Growing Voices is a response to the creative conscience brief, solving the problem of interest and learning in politics as a subject within schools. The solution is integrating weekly mandatory lessons within the curriculum from the ages of 5 until 12, where children who engage in politics from a young age are more likely to enjoy it compared to being introduced at a later age, normally 15-16, in a school setting.

The lessons would begin in a child-friendly way, focusing on listening and playful debates, before gradually developing into discussions around real-world politics and voting. The language and branding of the lessons will surround the five illustrated fictional children who grow alongside the students. These characters will each represent a value that centres the lessons. This will help explain ideas in a familiar and accessible way.

The values are stated above each card; these pillars will remain consistent throughout the course, serving as both a foundation and a means of growth. Each value will be the foundation for each lesson to ingrain these skills into the students in order for the course to mould each pupil into educated individuals. The long-term impact of this approach will be to improve civic engagement and reduce political discourse; this result will contribute to a generation better equipped to participate actively in a democratic society.

The design side of the project was developed with children as the target audience; therefore, it values readability over aesthetics. Therefore, the colour palette utilises primary colours that are familiar to them, and the type is structured and clean but with soft edges, creating a less rigid tone overall to the font
and outcome.
